We’re Getting an Upgrade

In early June, Enfield Public Library, along with all libraries in the Library Connection Inc. (LCI) consortium, will be switching to a new integrated library system (ILS). This change will temporarily disrupt some of our regular services. We apologize for any inconvenience that this causes any of our patrons.

An ILS is the software used to catalog and circulate materials, and our existing system lacks modern features.  The change will make it easier for us to do our work and will provide patrons with an improved library catalog experience and a more user-friendly app.  Leading up to migration, some features of our current system will start to be unavailable.

Things to know:

  • All items checked out or renewed in the next few weeks will be due on June 9.

  • During the transition, items can be checked out and returned, but patrons must have their library cards for any transaction. Library staff will not be able to look up patron accounts.

  • There may be a delay in getting new materials on the shelf through June.

  • Items traveling between libraries to fulfill hold requests will be limited during this time.

  • Access to digital services and electronic resources should continue to work for pre-existing library cards.

  • Online services like holds and account access will be temporarily unavailable.

  • Users can access the current catalog to look up items, but the status of those items may be inaccurate. Please contact the library to confirm whether the items are on the shelf before visiting.

The tentative go live date for the new system is June 3. Once the new system is live, staff will still be learning and adjusting to the new software.  We appreciate your patience and support during this transition as we work to improve your library experience!
