Learn Ukulele with Julie

Want to try an instrument that is fun and easy to play? Join Julie Stepanek as she shows the fundamentals of ukulele playing. You'll learn how to tune, strum and read chords. 

This event will include a beginner’s lesson followed by a strum-along of easy songs. Ukuleles will be available on loan for the first 24 registrants. Participants are welcome to bring their own ukulele.

 Julie Stepanek, who also preforms under the name Calamine, and is best known for the theme song of Sealab2021, the Adult Swim series featuring an insane submarine crew. She divides her time between music and family, Massachusetts and New York, teaching and performing, but in every place she goes she always finds the public library.

Wingmasters will teach children about the amazing owls and how they use their specialized powers of sight, hearing, and flight to survive in the wild. A variety of live owls will be at the show. Ages 5 and up. Free tickets available at the library beginning April 29th.

Soup to Nutz with Cartoonist Rick Stromoski​

Rick Stromoski will talk about his career in cartooning and show samples of his hilarious cartoons and illustration work. He will be bringing books for sale and signing.  
Rick's illustrations and cartoons since 1983 have appeared in national magazines, advertising, book publishing, children's publications, licensing, newspaper syndication and network television. He has won a bunch of awards. Member of the Society of Illustrators, The National Cartoonists Society (of which he is a past President) and the local Costco.

Come find out what your library has to offer you and your children.

9:00 am -Noon  Celebrate!   Book drawings, “Guess How Many?” contest, decorate a heart with your favorite book and make your own bookmarks. All ages Drop-in

10:00 am A Cozy Winter Day at the Library Folksinger and storyteller, Tim Van Egmond will tell tales and song songs to celebrate the winter season. Van Egmond will accompany himself on a wide variety of traditional instruments, including dulcimers, guitar, and limberjack (a dancing wooden puppet that taps out a rhythm on a paddle board) Sponsored by Enfield Culture and Arts Commission.
