The Rotary Club of Enfield is honoring Enfield’s veterans by sponsoring military tribute banners that will be displayed in Higgins Park, the Town Green, Freshwater Walkway, North Main Street and Hazardville between Memorial Day and Veterans Day in 2026 and 2027. The Enfield Public Library partnered with Enfield Rotary to preserve digital versions of these banners as well as biographical information about each veteran.

Anthony “Tony” S. Secondo honorably served the United States Army as a Sergeant during the Korean War from 1952-1954. He received the Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal, in 2015. The medal is presented by the South Korean government to honor service and sacrifice of veterans. Tony was a part of a group of soldiers who guarded a Korean prison and live ammunition.
A lifelong Enfield resident, Tony was the beloved husband of Patricia (Brouillette). Together they raised their daughters: Marci (Kinnin) and Leah in Hazardville. Tony grew up in Thompsonville, the son of Josephine (Arnone) and Salvatore Secondo. He spent 47 years with the Friendly Ice Cream Corporation. A John Maciolek American Legion Post 154 Past Commander, Tony served on the Ambulance Committee. For decades they annually raised funds to provide ambulance service to the town. A recipient of the veteran’s Patriot Award, he was President and a Fellow of the Enfield Historical Society, serving on the following committees for: The Hazardville Institute, The Wallop School, The Old Town Hall Museum, The Heritage Day and Martha Parsons Home. Tony chaired The Town of Enfield Bicentennial and Enfield’s 300th Anniversary. He contributed to the Challenge of Change – Enfield History Book. He was a parishioner and usher at St. Bernard Church, Hazardville. He volunteered countless hours to the American Red Cross, the Mt. Carmel Society, The Enfield Detection of Thieves & Robbers Board of Directors, the former Purple Heart Committee, and the Enfield Athletic Sports Hall of Fame. Tony and his Enfield High School 1948 Football teammates were inducted as part of the Class of 2000. Tony Secondo’s passion for his country and community lives on in historical displays at Noden Reed Farm, Windsor Locks, CT and at the Enfield Old Town Hall Museum.
