The Rotary Club of Enfield is honoring Enfield’s veterans by sponsoring military tribute banners that will be displayed in Higgins Park, the Town Green, Freshwater Walkway, North Main Street and Hazardville between Memorial Day and Veterans Day in 2026 and 2027. The Enfield Public Library partnered with Enfield Rotary to preserve digital versions of these banners as well as biographical information about each veteran.

Teddy entered active duty in 1943, joining the Navy during World War II. A member of the Destroyer Escort Division and served on the USS Dione D.E. 261, the USS Hubert D. E. 211, and the USS Simon Newcomb serving in the Atlantic Theater. After active duty, he continued in the Navy Reserves. He is the recipient of the WWII Victory Medal and European Theater Ribbon with two stars. Following his 22-year career he became a lifetime member of several veteran organizations. For sixty years he organized Enfield's Memorial and Veteran’s Day parades. He served as Chairman of the Enfield Veterans Council for 20 years: a senior vice commander of AMVETS Post 18; a past commander of the VFW Post 1501; a past commander of the Rinaldi-Fede Italian- American War Veterans Post 17; and a senior vice commander of the John Maciolek American Legion Post 154. In 2009, he was inducted into the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame. He is a recipient of the Legion of Merit from the Chapel of the Four Chaplains and recognized as Enfield’s 2006 Patriot of the Year.

Teddy was chairman of the Enfield WWII Monument Committee and spearheaded the dedication of a new monument on the town green, honoring fallen citizens from 20th-century war. He was vice president of the Thieves & Robbers and member for over fifty-five years. Also, a member of the Greys AA Club, Moose Club, Lions Club, a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 50, past president and chairman of the Enfield Housing Authority. Teddy was a retired police officer for Enfield and Suffield, a Sheriff for Hartford County from 1974-2002, a Connecticut State Marshal for over forty years, a past president of the Interstate Police Association, and a Constable for sixty years for the Town of Enfield.
