The Rotary Club of Enfield is honoring Enfield’s veterans by sponsoring military tribute banners that will be displayed in Higgins Park, the Town Green, Freshwater Walkway, North Main Street and Hazardville between Memorial Day and Veterans Day in 2026 and 2027. The Enfield Public Library partnered with Enfield Rotary to preserve digital versions of these banners as well as biographical information about each veteran.

Dennis M. Frizzell

United States army 1980-1986

sergreant

82nd airborne division

Born on Good Friday, 20 April 1962, the youngest of six children born to Pauline Teresa Marsh and Edward James Frizzell, Dennis Marcel was raised in Enfield Connecticut and joined the Army in early 1980 at the age of 17. Beginning his military training at Fort Benning, GA, Dennis trained for the infantry as a mortarman. After graduation, and some well-earned time off, Dennis travelled to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to train for the 82nd Airborne Division. Though serving mostly in the U.S., Dennis was eventually stationed in the Sinai where he became a certified diver in the Red Sea.

Leaving full time military service in 1983 and returning to the U.S. to serve in the Army Reserves, Dennis married grade school sweetheart, Nancy Malinoski in 1985, was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Reserves in 1986, and went on to have three children, April M., Jodie E., Jeremy J. by his thirtieth birthday in 1992.

In developing a strong work ethic through earning his GED and serving in the military, Dennis’ determination to succeed led him to quickly rise through the ranks of companies such as HP Hood, LLC and Fisher Scientific, while attending college evenings. While Dennis and Nancy eventually decided to part, they remained dedicated parents.

Dennis went on to earn an A.S. from American International College in Springfield, MA, (2005), a B.A. in History from Eastern Connecticut State University (2006), an M.A. in Technology Management from Central Connecticut State University (2015), and eventually a grandson, Jude Armond Laplante in 2020. In 2011, Dennis married Samantha L. Seamans, worked, studied, travelled, lived in Massachusetts, New Jersey, and back to Connecticut until his retirement from Comcast Corporation in 2023. Dennis passed away 12 December 2024, unexpectedly, at the age of 62. He is beloved and greatly missed.
