The Rotary Club of Enfield is honoring Enfield’s veterans by sponsoring military tribute banners that will be displayed in Higgins Park, the Town Green, Freshwater Walkway, North Main Street and Hazardville between Memorial Day and Veterans Day in 2026 and 2027. The Enfield Public Library partnered with Enfield Rotary to preserve digital versions of these banners as well as biographical information about each veteran.

Rosario, a native of Thompsonville, employed by Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Company, chose to enlist in the United States Army on January 28, 1949 with the 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Tank Company.
As his niece, I never had the opportunity to meet my Uncle Roy. He was killed in action on September 17, 1950 at the age of 20 while serving in the Tanks Corp.
Rosario was the first Thompsonville/Enfield resident to lose his life in the line of duty in the Korean War. His name became part of the Rinaldi-Fede Post to honor his sacrifice to our country.
