Preventing Sepsis

SEPSIS can be deadly!

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition which is responsible for nearly half of all in-hospital deaths. Eighty percent of sepsis cases begin before a person even arrives at the hospital. Yet very few people even know what sepsis is! Even though those over 65 and children younger than a year old are most at risk, anyone can get sepsis at any age.

Nancy Hernandez will share information on sepsis symptoms and what you should do to keep yourself, your loved ones, and your community safe. Nancy is the Sepsis Program Coordinator at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. She has thirty-five years of experience as a critical care nurse, clinical educator, sepsis content expert, and received her doctoral degree with study focused on sepsis. Dr. Hernandez is passionate about educating the community on sepsis recognition.
