Philip Glass’s opera follows the rise, reign, and fall of the Egyptian Pharaoh Akhnaten. Akhnaten was one of the most influential Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt whose brief 17 year reign introduced the world to his ideas about religion, culture and society.
