The Rotary Club of Enfield is honoring Enfield’s veterans by sponsoring military tribute banners that will be displayed in Higgins Park, the Town Green, Freshwater Walkway, North Main Street and Hazardville between Memorial Day and Veterans Day in 2026 and 2027. The Enfield Public Library partnered with Enfield Rotary to preserve digital versions of these banners as well as biographical information about each veteran.

David Olson is a proud United States Army veteran who served from 1966 to 1969 during the Vietnam War era.
He began his service with basic training at Fort Knox, KY. Following basic training, David began specialized instruction in radar repair at Fort Monmouth, NJ. His strong skills and background in electrical engineering lead to his assignment as a radar repair instructor within the Army Signal Corps. David later served in Mannheim, Germany. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
Outside of his military duties, David pursued his passion for aviation. He spent free time with pilots, taking flying lessons and eventually earning his private pilot’s license. Additionally, he worked part-time as a projectionist at the base drive-in movie theater.
