The Rotary Club of Enfield is honoring Enfield’s veterans by sponsoring military tribute banners that will be displayed in Higgins Park, the Town Green, Freshwater Walkway, North Main Street and Hazardville between Memorial Day and Veterans Day in 2026 and 2027. The Enfield Public Library partnered with Enfield Rotary to preserve digital versions of these banners as well as biographical information about each veteran.

I started my college in the Fall of 1961 at the University of Connecticut in Hartford. However, I was undecided on a career path and decided to enlist in the Army for 3 years. I reported to New Haven, CT for indoctrination into the Army in January 1962 and that same day I was sent by train to Fort Dix, NJ, for training. Once training was complete, I received orders to report to the Far East. I landed in Korea for assignment on May 5, 1962. I reported to headquarters in Inchon, South Korea. I was assigned to the 139th Military Police Company in Seoul. I spent 13 months in South Korea from 1962-1963. I subsequently reported to Fort Bennings, GA, In August 1963. I stayed there till my discharge from the Army in January 1965.
