The Rotary Club of Enfield is honoring Enfield’s veterans by sponsoring military tribute banners that will be displayed in Higgins Park, the Town Green, Freshwater Walkway, North Main Street and Hazardville between Memorial Day and Veterans Day in 2026 and 2027. The Enfield Public Library partnered with Enfield Rotary to preserve digital versions of these banners as well as biographical information about each veteran.

John Iacolino was born in Thompsonville, CT to parents who emigrated from Italy (Sicily) in 1918. The parents had six sons and two daughters, John was the youngest son. His older brothers Charles, James, Jack, Joseph, and Carlo all served in the US Army.
John served in Korean War on Pacific islands achieving the rank of Corporal from 1952-1954.
Upon release from the Army, John pursued a career in cutting hair, earned his certification , worked for other barbers for several years before opening his own barber shop in 1964. The Elm Barber Styling Shop opened in 1964 and operated until 1996. John loved all his customers, had an amazing sense of humor, and would never miss a day of work.
John Iacolino was a lifelong resident of Enfield, CT.
John died in 1996.
