The Rotary Club of Enfield is honoring Enfield’s veterans by sponsoring military tribute banners that will be displayed in Higgins Park, the Town Green, Freshwater Walkway, North Main Street and Hazardville between Memorial Day and Veterans Day in 2026 and 2027. The Enfield Public Library partnered with Enfield Rotary to preserve digital versions of these banners as well as biographical information about each veteran.

Specialist

Donald is a “born and raised Thompsonville boy”who enlisted in the US ARMY in 1960. He completed his Basic training at Fort Benning in Georgia. From there he went to Fort Sam Houston in Texas where he did his Combat Medic Training and took the Medical Specialist Advance Course and became a Medical Specialist. After that he was transferred to KOREA where he was assigned to the 49th Medical Detachment Helicopter Ambulance. He was stationed there for 13 months as a Flight Medic. Then for the next 1.5 years he was stationed at the McDonald Army Hospital performing emergency room and outpatient duties.


Donald has been an active member of the Am. Legion Post 154 for 35 years. He was an Honor Guard assigned to do Military Funerals and is currently the Finance Officer for the Post. He is also a member of the Veterans Council for the Town of Enfield and a member of the VFW.


After many years in the trucking industry, he and his wife Marlene opened D & F Power Equip. Inc. in Suffield where they spent 32 years working together serving many communities until their retirement in 2013.


Donald and Marlene have 2 great kids and 3 amazing grandkids.
