The Rotary Club of Enfield is honoring Enfield’s veterans by sponsoring military tribute banners that will be displayed in Higgins Park, the Town Green, Freshwater Walkway, North Main Street and Hazardville between Memorial Day and Veterans Day in 2026 and 2027. The Enfield Public Library partnered with Enfield Rotary to preserve digital versions of these banners as well as biographical information about each veteran.

Dante Saracco was born on February 23, 1918, to Italian immigrants Lorenzo and Lucia Saracco. A quiet and private man, he held a deep love for both his family and his country. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II.
After returning home, Dante worked at Bigelow Carpet Mills before beginning a long and dedicated career at Pratt & Whitney, in 1943. He remained there for 40 years, retiring in 1983.
Though he never married, Dante played a meaningful and lasting role in the lives of his family. He took great pride in maintaining the family home, tending to his expansive garden, and spending time beneath his grape arbor, where he warmly welcomed and visited with friends and neighbors.
Dante passed away on March 30, 1995, leaving a lasting void in the hearts of all who knew him.
