The Rotary Club of Enfield is honoring Enfield’s veterans by sponsoring military tribute banners that will be displayed in Higgins Park, the Town Green, Freshwater Walkway, North Main Street and Hazardville between Memorial Day and Veterans Day in 2026 and 2027. The Enfield Public Library partnered with Enfield Rotary to preserve digital versions of these banners as well as biographical information about each veteran.

Del joined the United States Air Force through Officer Candidate Training in 1963 after graduating from the University of Massachusetts with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He was stationed in San Antonio, TX where he was a Contracts Officer. He went on to serve honorably for 4.5 years and received his honorable discharge as a Captain.
After leaving the Air Force, he entered a civilian role for the Department of Defense (DoD). This role was also as a Contracts Administrator. It was a job that took him to Ohio and Connecticut. In Cleveland, OH, he worked with NASA at the Lewis Research Center. In Bridgeport, and later Hartford, CT, he worked for the Defense Contract Administration (DCAS) as a Contract Administrator working with local government contractors, like Hamilton Standard and Kaman Aerospace. With the Hartford role, Enfield became home in 1971 where he and his wife, Joan, raised three children. He retired from the DoD in 1995.
In Enfield, he was active in youth sports, coaching Little League baseball and EPSA basketball teams for his children. Both Del and Joan were very involved with the Meals and Wheels program for approximately 30 years.
Del passed away August 3, 2023 at the age of 83.
